Brook Brook

Powers and Special Abilities:

Musician: Brook is able to play any musical instrument very well.

Light Weight: Brook is able to run across the surface of water.

Calcium Healing: Consuming things high in calcium, such as milk, enables his bones to heal rapidly.

Fast Fencing: Brook is a very fast swordsman, his sword swings being faster than is normal.

Weapons and Gear:

Shikomizue: Brook carries a shikomizue, a sword concealed within his cane. He is very skilled with it, and has several moves in particular that he has named.
-Three Verse Humming: Arrow-Notch Slash: A slash so fast that it appears he didn't attack at all. The attack is only realized after a certain amount of time has passed, equal to the user walking ten feet away, or three steps or "verses".
-Dawn Serenade: Right Handed Strike: A thrusting technique with the sword that creates a highly compressed blast of air with enough power to burst its way through a thick wall.
-Prelude: After: A move where the user slashes an opponent's weapon almost instantaneously, intended to destroy that weapon.
-Gavotte: Leap Forward: A sword thrusting technique in which the user propels himself forward in order to strike an opponent.
-Polka Continuation: A technique in which the user delivers several thrusts against an opponent. Visually, due to the user's speed, it looks as if they are thrusting with several swords.
-Lullaby Parry: A technique wherein the user swipes his weapon over a violin like a fiddle and plays a soothing melody which makes the user's enemies fall asleep. This allows him to score a free hit on the sleeping enemies. The main drawback however is that allies of the user are also susceptible to falling asleep as well.
-Swallow Leap Forward: An attack where Brook first positions himself in mid-air several feet above his target and then performs a descending Bond En Avant spinning downwards in an attempt to spear his target.

Brook also carries a violin with him.

-Having consumed a devil fruit, Brook is weakened considerably when submerged in any body of water, and is completely unable to swim. Rain and waves do not weaken him.

-Seastone, a special type of stone that emits the same energy as the sea, is also able to weaken Brook since he consumed a devil fruit. Its effect only lasts so long as Brook is in contact with the seastone. The degree of seastone's effect on devil fruit users depends on its density and composition.

Background: In his first life, Brook was a member of the Rumbar Pirates. When they traveled into a dangerous area of the sea known as the Grand Line, they underwent many dangerous adventures. Sadly, at one point half of the crew and the captain of the Rumbar Pirates were stricken with a disease, and the healthy half of the crew was forced to split from them so that they would not die themselves, taking Brook as their captain.

Upon entering an area of the Grand Line known as the Florian Triangle, Brook and his crew were attacked by a group of pirates with poison tipped weapons. Though they proved triumphant, they were all poisoned and so faced their deaths. Knowing that he would be revived due to his eating the Yomi Yomi no Mi, Brook proposed that the crew play one last song to record so that he could bring it back to their friend they had left at the entrance to the Grand Line. They agreed and played the song, and eventually died.

It took Brook's soul one year to find his body again, and when he did he found that it was only a skeleton, his afro the only part of him that had survived. He inhabited it regardless, as he had made a promise, and waited alone on the ship. Eventually he was found by a group of pirates called the Straw Hats, and had a number of adventures with them. It was after encountering a dangerous pirate known as Bartholomew Kuma that he was sent sailing into the air by a powerful attack, sent flying for almost three days before drifting into a misty and mysterious portion of the sea, where people were known to disappear. Perhaps to other dimensions?
